The answer is 7.9 × 10⁻⁴

0.00079 = 7.9 × 0.0001

The number of decimals is a negative value of the exponent. For example:
0.1 = 10⁻¹
0.01 = 10⁻²
0.001 = 10⁻³
0.0001 = 10⁻⁴

0.00079 = 7.9 × 0.0001 = 7.9 × 10⁻⁴
