The original founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints (Also known as the Mormons) is Joseph Smith. He found a series of Gold Plates in a hillside in New York, and he translated them into what has since become the Book of Mormon. Brigham Young was also an elder, but it was Joseph Smith who originally formed the religion. Hope this helps :)
