DF is usually used to refer to the degree of freedom value, which is the number of independent parameters required to define a system.
DS is the degree of substitution value of a polymer, which is the number of substituent groups attached per base molecule.
Rf is the slowing factor, which is used in chromatography and is defined as the ratio of distance traveled by the solute to the distance traveled by solvent.
