The coordinates of Trapezoid EFGH are E(4, 6), F(2, 3), G(4, 2), and H(8,4). The image of EFGH under dilation is E’F’G’H’.

If the coordinates of vertex G’ are (2, 1), what are the coordinates of vertex H’?

(4, 2)

(2, 1)

(4, 1)

(6, 2)

The answer would be (4,2). Since it's a dilation, you take the ordered pair (4,2) and divide by 2 to get (2,1). The ratio is 1/2. Take (8,4) and divide by 2 which gives you (4,2).

Answer: The coordinate of vertex H is (4,2).

Explanation:

Here, The coordinates of Trapezoid EFGH are E(4, 6), F(2, 3), G(4, 2), and H(8,4).

Since, we know that, A dilation is a type of transformation that enlarges or reduces a figure.

That is the scale factor of dilation for each vertex must be same.

And, here, the image of EFGH under dilation is E’F’G’H’ where the coordinates of vertex G’ are (2, 1)

Therefore the scale factor is 1/2.

So, the coordinates of vertex H'= ( 8/2, 4/2)= (4,2)

First Option is correct.
