One eight corresponds to the rational number
(1)/(8)=0.125.

In this problem, Alexander has 5 oranges. In order to calculate how many eights are contained in 5 oranges, we should divide the total number of oranges (5) by the value of each eighth (1/8), so we get:

N=(5)/((1)/(8))=8\5 = 40

So, 5 oranges contain 40 eigths.
