How did access to oceans and rivers help the progress of industrialization in Britain?

Because Britain was known for it's massive fleet of ships, so when rivers cut through countries they could use their ships to take that country, and create a blockade so other countries would be forced to buy from Britain.

Due to access to oceans and rivers, Great Britain have a huge opportunity to obtain cheaper materials from countries outside the european contient. It also serves as a strategic trade route for high paying buyers in Europe, Central Asia, and North America.
