Answer:

4.5

Explanation:

We are given that you are measuring walnuts for banana walnut oatmeal and a spinach and walnut salad.

You need walnuts for the oatmeal =
(3)/(8) cup

You need salad=
(3)/(4)

You have scoop=
(1)/(4) cup

We have to describe two different ways in which you find number of scoops of walnuts you will need.

1. Total walnut =
(3)/(8)+(3)/(4)=(3+6)/(8)=(9)/(8) cup

(1)/(4) cup =1 scoop

1 cup = 4 scoop

(9)/(8) cup =4* (9)/(8)=4.5 scoop

2.Number of scoop of oatmeal =
4* (3)/(8)=1.5

Number of scoop of salad =
(3)/(4)* 4=3

Total number of scoops =1.5+3=4.5

Use the 1/4 scoop three times for the salad. Use the 1/4 scoops three times, each time only fill half the scoop for the oatmeal.
