The area known as the Old Northwest, was the area near the northwest Ohio River, east of the Mississippi, and south of the Great Lakes.

They represented much of the public domain, which had been acquired from the states, although there were more lands that were in an original letter.

The correct answer is A: Many claimed that more land was in an original letter, which extended to the Mississippi River.
