What effect did the phrase"self evident" have in the second sentence of the Declaration of Independence

Well, when the founding fathers wrote "self evident" they meant that it's obvious. As in, the impact was that it was OBVIOUS to see that the nation that was made at that time was in a state of nature. Self evident as in the position of America can be seen as an issue by anyone because it just is so .. bad.
