So,

17/3 is an improper fraction.

We can immediately see that there are more that 5 3's in the fraction. That uses 15 "3's".
There are 2 more thirds, so the mixed form is

5 2/3

5 2/3 is less than 8, so that is the answer.

Can someone tell me how to do this? I probably learned this but fractions are really confusing... Its in the picture below.
