at those two x-intercepts, I know that x=2 and x=-2.
to get this, I know that there are two factors set to 0.
x+2=0 and x-2=0
so, if you multiply (x+2)(x-2)=y
then you will have standard form
x^2+2x-2x-4=y
y=x^2-4
