Earth's inner core is made up of mostly iron, but it is a solid. The inner core of Earth is extremely hot. The inner core spins faster than the other layers.

Earth's outer core is completely made up of a liquid layer. The liquid outer core is composed mostly of iron and nickel. Earth's outer core is around 1,400 miles (2,250 km) thick.
