The moon is slowly moving away from the Earth. What will eventually happen to the gravitational force between the earth and the moon? Why?

The force of gravity is dependent upon the distance between the two concerned objects and the mass of the objects. As the mass doesn't change, we can focus on distance. So as the moon recedes from earth (currently at the rate of 2-3 cm per year, will eventually leave the earth system and become a free celestial object.
