Solution:

We have,


8x-1=-50

Here, -1 is not next to the variable. So, move -1 to the other side of the equation by using the opposite operation. After moving -1 to the right side of the equation it will become +1.


8x=-50+1


8x=-49

Divide both sides by 8.


x=(-49)/(8)

Therefore, the value of x is
(-49)/(8).
