Did Jefferson resign from Washington's cabinet?

I think the reason why Jefferson resigned from Washington's Cabinet, was because Jefferson wanted the USA to support France in their fight against England. Washington had a neutrality policy meaning he didn't want to get involved in other countries affairs. If the issue didn't involve the US, Washington didn't want anything to do with it. Due to this disagreement, Jefferson left his position. Hopefully this helps.
