In what ways were slaves treated like other forms of property such as animals and tools?

Slave owners treated slaves as if they weren't human. They were forced to work unbearable conditions, often without any break, and if they would cease to continue their task, they would be beaten.

Like livestock, they were fed and clothed, and kept sheltered, especially at night. Thier wounds were cared for as well.
