Why are you instructed to feel the outside of a test tube after 2 chemicals are mixed

because you need to see if there is a temperature change so that the test tube doesn't break and spill the dangerous chemicals.

Because sometimes, depending on the chemicals, you will be able to feel the heat from their chemical reaction.
