Write a short paragraph expressing your ideas about the Chinese and silk production. Why do you think they so carefully guarded the secret of how to produce silk?

I believe only  you could answer this, but you can get other people's ideas. I think the Chinese and their silk production is nice. Why I also thin they are so carefully guarded about the secret of how to produce silk is, its their tradition on how to produce it and where to sell it.

Since the Chinese where the only ones who could make and sell silk, they could get a high price for their special cloth. If they had simply given their secrets away, it would have been commonplace for everyone to make, and the Chinese would have lost their giant income from the silk buyers. It would also have put many people out of a job, like the silk merchants/traders!
