Satanta was a forerunner of the Kiowa tribe. In the 1860s and 1870s, the Kiowa Indians conducted an unending fight to defend their land and means of life from the U.S. infringement. Satanta better known as White Bear, was a main Kiowa forerunner in accord of resistance. Also his ability as a warrior, Satanta was also a well-known orator -a fact showed by his American-given nickname "The Orator of the Plains."
