I'd say false because I think of it as a doubles version of any game has two players; therefore, you would not need to hit it twice because you'd have someone else next to you to hit it when you couldn't.
Think of doubles tennis - two players on each side. If player A on one side cannot reach the ball when it is hit their way, player B on that same side will hit it.
