Describe the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is a process in which plant produce sugar and oxygen from water and carbon dioxide using the Sunlight. It consists of light-dependent and light-independent reactions. Light-dependent reactions are the first stage of photosynthesis. These reactions take place on the thylakoid membranes. In these reactions, the energy from Sunlight is absorbed by pigments in the leaves of the plant (green pigment chlorophyll is called chlorophyll). The energy is converted to chemical energy in the form of ATP or NADPH. Later, in the light-independent reactions of the photosynthesis, chemical energy in the form of ATP or NADPH will be used for production of carbohydrates from carbon dioxide.
