In light-dependent reactions the energy from the sun is absorbed chlorophyll and converted into a chemical energy in the form of something called electron carrier molecules similar to ATP and NADPH. Light energy is harnessed into Photosystems I and II, both which are present in the thylakoid membranes of the chloroplasts.
