How many protons electrons and neutrons are in carbon?

Six protons (because its proton number, at the bottom, is 6)
Six electrons (because the number of protons and electrons in an atom is the same)
The symbol also tells us that the total number of protons and neutrons in a carbon atom is 12. Note that you can work out the number of neutrons from the mass number and atomic number. In this example, it is 12 - 6 = 6 neutrons. :) hope this helps
