The same hysteria that is happening in Salem is occurring in Andover. There are court proceedings based on accusations of witchcraft. Parris informs Danforth and Hawthorne that Abigail has robbed him and run away. Danforth and Hathorne ignore this, even though it makes Abigail look suspicious. She is the one who started the accusations of witchcraft in the first place. Parris then insists on informing Danforth and Hathorne about Andover. The people of Andover have rebelled and turned against the courts. They have had enough of the accusations of witchcraft so they are taking over the court system. Parris is worried that the same could happen in Salem.
