George puts the chopped apples ( 1 and 3/8 teaspoons ) in a bowl. Then he takes out 1/2 cup of the apples, and adds the oil ( 1/4 cup ). What is the combined amount of apple and oil in the bowl? How your work, and write your answer in simplest form.
