Find the slope of the line segment joining the points ( 1, - 4 ) and ( - 4, 2 ). Label the points as x1 = 1, y1 = - 4, x2 = -4, and y2 = 2. To find the slope m of the line segment joining the points, use the slope formula : So, m = - 6/5.
