What is eminent domain?

Eminent Domain gives the government the right to use a private property for public uses, but of course giving Money or any other form of compensation to the owner in exchange.
Like, for example, Destroying a house to build a new road, or highway, etc...

Much like the other answer eminent domain is the government taking your land, but it is through a long legal process of attempting to get the owner to sell the land to them and if that does not work the land gets appraised and the government offers that if the land owner does not like the price it goes to a jury and they pick a price suitable for the land and the land owner must accept that offer as there is no going back once you get to a jury
