Option 2: Teaching about evolution.

The Butler Act (March 1925) was a Tennessee law that prohibited public education in the United States to teach evolution or any theory that denied the creationist theory taught in the Bible. The Act also made it a misdemeanor for any educator to violate the law.

Soon after the Act was enacted, John T. Scopes, a science teacher of high school, broke the law and was arrested. His trial (July 10, 1925-July 21) was very famous for being broadcast live on the radio in the United States, and for presenting a debate over creationism versus evolution.
