What led to opposition to alexander the great

When Alexander the Great's army had successfully reached the frontiers of India his soldiers were exhausted and homesick. This led to a brief quasi-mutiny of Alex's command. It also convinced Alex to begin a march back westward and take a hiatus in conquest.
