An argument made by anti-imperialists in the late 1800s was that the United States:

might have to force other countries to be free.

might have to go to war over distant territories.

The answer is B) might have to go to war over distant territories. An argument made by anti-imperialists in the late 1800's was that the United States might have to go to war over distant territories. Anti-imperialist were known to be supporters of the Spanish-American war in 1898 but they did not agree with seizure of land, especially in the Philippines. Thus they argued that the U.S. might have to go to war over distant territories.
