the enzyme catalase will break down hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. why doesn't catalase work on protein?please Be specific.

The enzyme catalase has a specific substrate (hydrogen peroxide) that can fit into its active site. Proteins cannot fit into the active site because it's shape is different than the "puzzle piece" hole of the active site that only hydrogen peroxide can fit in. Hope this helps!
