What does biodiversity mean?

Biodiversity refers to the variety of life forms in a habitat, ecosystem etc. For example, let's say we have a fish tank with only one species in it. There is very low biodiversity within that fish tank. Now let's say at an aquarium, there are 100 different species in a tank. The aquarium's tank has high biodiversity.
