If you are talking about how in America, natives were viewed as savages?
If so- Native Americans were forced out of their own native tongue into English, their culture was ripped apart, their land was ceded, children were forced into boarding schools were they were beated and sometimes raped. Oh and they were nearly wiped out from the face of the earth.

What happened in the 18th century is an echo of today's Native Americans reality as they have lost their culture by 75%, they're land has been reduced to reservations (YAKAMA reservation is an example) and many have turned into alcoholism (not all, about 33% percent)
