Ashoka is the mauryan ruler converted to buddhism.

In the Maurya Dinasty, Ashoka was an Indian emperor. Almost all of the Indian subcontinent was under his rule from c. 268 to 232 BCE. Buddhism was spread in Asia by him. Buddhism is a religion originated by Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha more than 2,500 years ago in India.

This religion centers on personal spiritual development and it includes some practices such as meditation in order to achieve it.
