C. It was used in Africa and Asia rather than the Americas. SInce the Industrial Revolution, European countries needed more raw materials to use for their consumption. Asian and Africa are continents that are rich in raw materials and the only way to get the raw materials is to dominate and colonize the countries in that continents.
