Is the distance between 6 and -4 1/4 on a number line

To find the difference, you take both the numbers and FIRST find the absolute value. Then you find the sum of the numbers and that will be your answer. so the absolute value will look like this: I 6 -4 1/4 I it will be 6+4 1/4 which is finding the sum. Your answer will be a distance of 10.25 units.

It is 10 draw a number Line starting with the zero in the middle and counting to six on the right and counting to -4 on the left side then count how many spaces there are between the two numbers.
