How did the huang rivers nickname, river of sorrows, reflect its impact on early Chinese civilization

I believe the answer is: When it broke through the water paths it ruined crops.

In the past, people still haven't develop the technology to build Dams that could contain the river water in case there was a heavy rain that cause the river to flooded.

When this happen, the crops that exist near the river would get drowned, and many farmers had to suffer the lost of months worth of work. Which cause sorrow to their families.
