Why does Woolf imagine the story of this gifted woman rather than writing a true story? Woolf wanted the story to be more entertaining than what actually happened to Shakespeare’s sister. Gifted women poets in the Elizabethan Era were not given the chance to be successful and remembered. Woolf doesn’t want to reveal the real name of the woman she’s writing about. Women poets in the Elizabethan Era have often been written about.

Answer:

  • Gifted women poets in the Elizabethan Era were not given the chance to be successful and remembered.

Step-by-step explanation:

Talented women would not have the capacity to practice on their skills. At the time, there were no opportunities to talented and skilled women. So Woolf restricted herself to envisioning one instead of expound on one.

I believe that Woolf imagines the story of this gifted woman rather than writing a true story because gifted women poets in the Elizabethan Era were not given the chance to be successful and remembered.
Even if they did write, they used a male pseudonym, because otherwise, nobody would want to read any of their works.
