Organisms that make their own food are usually plants they have photosynthesis so they make their own food with the sun amongst other things. Organisms that can not make their own food are usually animals that have to find food and when an organism makes changes in its surroundings to benefit oneself is called adaptation

Organisms that make there own food are called autotrophs. Organisms that can't make their own food are called heterotrophs.
