Yeah when I was in your grade I didn't know what to do with the fraction either, you convert that 12 1/2 to 12.5, same amount just different format, now all you have to do is do 230 divided by 12.5. It'll look something like this:
12 1/2 = 12.5

18.4 <——— this would be your end result but if you want to turn it back into a fraction it'd be 18 4/10.
