1/3(b + 4) = 1/2
1/3b + 4/3 = 1/2....multiply everything by common denominator of 6
2b + 8 = 3
2b = 3 - 8
2b = - 5
b = -5/2

or
1/3(b + 4) = 1/2...multiply both sides by 3
b + 4 = 3/2
b = 3/2 - 4
b = 3/2 - 8/2
b = -5/2

Answer:

b=-(5)/(2)

\mathrm{Decimal}:b=-2.5

Explanation:

(1)/(3) (b+4)=(1)/(2)

(1)/(3)\left(b+4\right)

We need to perform a multiplication.

Rule:-
(A)/(B) C=(AC)/(B)

Here, the factors in the new numerator are, 1, ( b+ 4)

*Notice that all non-fraction factors are placed in the numerator. the only factor in the new denominator is 3.

(b+4)/(3) =(1)/(2)

Now, we need to get rid of all the denominators in this equation.

This is done by multiplying the Least Common Denominator by both the left and right sides. the LCD is equal to 3 . 2.

2(b+4)=3

b=-5/2
