It is true that the US signed a ceasefire with North Vietnam in the early 1970s hoping to end the fighting in Vietnam. The Paris peace was signed in 1973 with the goal of ending the war after which the US pulled its troops back and the armies of North and South Vietnam declared a ceasefire.
