We know that each picture is equivalent to two books.
For month 1, Toby had three pictures, each of them representing two books he read during this month.
Therefore,
number of books = 2*3 = 6 books

Let

y-------> number of books read during the month
1

x------> number of picture of a book

we know that

y=2x

in this problem

for
x=3\ pictures

calculate y

y=2*3=6\ books

therefore

the answer is

The number of books read during the month
1 is
6\ books
