The difference between Federalist and Republicans, was the federalist supported representative government in which elected officials ruled in the people’s name. too much democracy, federalist claimed was dangerous to liberty. Therefore, they did not believe that it was wise to let the public become too involved in politics. Republicans feared a strong central government controlled by only a few people. They believed democracy and liberty would be safe only if ordinary people participated fully in government.
