Peter sold some stock at $37 per share. This was $9 a share less than twice what she paid for it. What price did she pay for the stock? Please simplify thanks

Suppose she paid x shillings for the shares;
Then;
37+9=2x
46=2x
x=23
She bought each share at 23 dollars
