You can turn 1 6/7 into 13/6 because 1 6/7 7x1=7+6=13/6 because you keep the denominators ALWAYS

Here's an example:
4 2/3 times 6
1. You multiply the denominator and the outside number
4 times 3 equals 12

2. Then, you add the numerator to the product of your denominator and the outside number
12+2=14

3. Your improper fraction is now 14/3
(Your denominator will always stay the same)

4. Then, you just multiply
14 times 6 equals 84
3 times 1 equals 3

5. Then you simplify it and your answer is 28
