Farming allowed the first Americans to spend time that they once spent on hunting, to improve their lives. How did they begin to improve their lives?

Farming led to a more stable life which kept them from roaming the territories for meat. They could then build permanent shelters, rely on crops for food & supplement their diet with local meat. Less stress from constantly being on the move.
