a student bought 34 pencils for school. if he sharpened 16 of the pencils before school, what is his ratio of unsharpened pencils to sharpened pencils?

TO find unsharpened pencils, subtract 34 by 16 and you'll get 18. The answer to the question is 18/16, if you want to simplified it, it will be 9/8 or 9:8.
