You have 52 inches of yellow ribbon and 64 inches of red ribbon. You want to cut the ribbon into pieces of equal length with no leftovers. What is the greatest length of the pieces that you can make?

The greatest length is the gcf of 52 and 64.

52 = 2 x 2 x 13
64 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2

gcf = 2 x 2 = 4

Therefore, the greatest length of the pieces that can be made = 4 inches
