In other other words, glycogen is the stored form of glucose that is broken down whenever there is a demand of energy in the body. Glucagon is a hormone that is released by pancreas whenever there is low level of glucose in the blood. It stimulates the process of glycogenolysis ( that is the breakdown of glycogen to obtain glucose).
